Sketch Modelling

The photo above shows the 'given' components that have been provided for the MP3 amplifier project and must be housed within any design solution.

Firstly I wanted to ensure that the sound quality of the MP3 amplifier was given the upmost consideration. With this in mind I started working on a housing for the speaker. I have used a cone for this, because it works in very well with idea of a grammer phone that I want to try to bring through my design in retro futuristic manner. The cone gives a really nice sound quality, even in a very rough sketch model.

I then started to add some shapes, in the case above some rectangles to the design. The main reason for this is to provide some accomodation for the circuit board and battery.

My next move was to cut away some of the point of the cone and invert it, using a circular disk to 'anchor' the cone to the ground and again this could be extruded to provide a suitable area to house the battery and circuit board.

Following on from the inverted cone idea I tried to angle the shorter cone to give an angle of projection for the sound. again the bulky semi spherical shape at the bottom is used to counter balance the MP3 amplifier but can aslo be useful housing for the battery and circuit board.
